Mambo, Joomla, and WordPress Tips

Just for fun I thought I’d search for "search engine" at the major engines. Here is what I’ve found.

1. Google

They don’t rank until #14, and that’s google.co.uk. I’d say it’s pretty well known that Google does hand-manipulate some results, kind of odd they don’t rank #1 on their own engine. Especially with Yahoo showing over 43m links to google.com. Yahoo ranks #5 and Live ranks #4.

2. Yahoo

They rank #1, with Google right on their heels. The amazing thing here is search.yahoo.com has almost 93m reported links. I find it hard to believe that Yahoo has so many more backlinks when Google has so much more of the marketshare. Google ranks at #2 and Live ranks #30.

3. Live

An unimpressive #62. I would say there is no doubt that’s not manipulated. Only about 800k backlinks. Google ranks #2 and Yahoo ranks #5.

Big waste of time? Sure. But I found it interesting.
